What we are using

2005 Hardware Info:

This is what we are currently using as of September 4, 2005.  The PCs are more varied from one user to the next.  The boys have modified their PCs as their funds have permitted.  Things sure have changed from the 2000 list!!

Other 2005 Hardware Info:

Cable Modem, Sonicwall and 3Com Hub & SwitchWe have a Cable Modem and broadband internet thru Time Warner Cable.  I have a Sonicwall TZ170 firewall hooked up between the cable modem and our network.  I put the hammer down on the kids and blocked all of the ports except for the ones we needed.  Our network also consist of an 8 port 3Com Office Connect Hub, a 16 port 3Com Office Connect switch, an 8 port Netgear Swtich and a 4 port Netgear hub.  We mainly use the Netgear switchs/hubs for LanParties or for guests who bring over thier computers.  Every room (except the bathroom and laundry room) is wired for a 10/100 network with CAT5E.

We also have a HP 1300 Network printer, a HP psc 750xi Color printer, copier & scanner.  A network camera is connected down in the family room (Rec/Computer Room) and is supplying the pictures for the Rec Room Cam page.  You need to logon to see the images from the camera:

  • User Name: guest
  • Password: g

Our computers are not as similar as they once were.  Individuals have modified their PCs (depending on how much they wanted to spend).  SacSquash has a better PC then me, because he has a little more disposable income now that he is working. We have also added a couple of computers and have spread out throughout the house and are not contained to the one room we used to have 5 computers crammed into.  I am working on upgrading my MB, Processor & memory to an AMD 64 3500+ and 1 Gig of RAM then I am going to put my MB & Processor in the Guest PC.

2000 Hardware Info:

This is the Hardware that we were using back in 2000.  I was trying to keep the components as similar as possible, it’s easier that way.  Also I was buying the hardware and in 2000 the boys did not have money to modify their PCs.  Most of the computers we are using in 2005 have more video memory then these have of system RAM.
